"Adam is a classy young man both on and off the ice," said Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski. "He was one of my priorities after the great rookie season he had. He plays great defense, but knows when to jump up into the play at the right time to create offensive chances. I know he is going to be a leader in the dressing room. When he speaks people listen because they have a lot of respect for him."
In addition to being selected for the CHL All-Rookie team, Rivet was a finalist for the CHL Rookie of the Year Award.
"It is definitely exciting to come back to Laredo," said Rivet. "Thru the summer it has been my first choice to come back. It makes it little more exciting with some of the guys returning. I really enjoy the fans in Laredo, they are number one in the league, and it made my decision to come back very easy for this year."
Rivet, a native of Fort Erie, Ontario, spent four years playing Canadian college hockey for the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers. Rivet totaled double figures in points each of the four seasons he played for the Panthers. Twice in four seasons for UPEI he registered more than 20 points in a season. He totaled 17 goals and 73 points in 109 career college games.
Prior to college he spent three seasons playing major junior hockey with the Hull Olympiques in the QMJHL. His best season came in 1999-00 when he tallied 10 goals and 55 points. His last two season with the Olympiques he was the top scoring defenseman on the team.
