Riversharks Sign Four More to 2015 Roster

CAMDEN, N.J.-The Camden Riversharks have signed four players to their 2015 roster, including 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Alex Hudak and Marlton, NJ native Ryan Kulik, the team announced today.

Outfielder and 2014 Atlantic League All Star Alex Hudak, 24, returns to the Riversharks for a second season. He appeared in 82 games with the team in 2014, notching a .287 average with 7 home runs and 39 RBIs. Hudak spent time in the Kansas City Royals organization after signing as a non-drafted free agent in June 2012, including a stint with the Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2013. He played at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL, posting a .329 average with 8 home runs over two seasons of play. In his first season in the Atlantic League in 2014, Hudak also received Player of the Week honors in June after hitting .455 with three doubles, a pair of triples, four RBIs and six runs.

Left-handed pitcher Ryan Kulik will return to the Riversharks for a third season. Kulik, 29, is a native of Marlton, NJ, and a graduate of Cherokee High School and Rowan University. He was drafted out of Rowan by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 8th round of the 2008 draft. He played in the Cardinals organization for four seasons prior to joining the Riversharks in 2013. In two seasons with the 'Sharks, he recorded 122 strikeouts over 179 innings, and will return to the team for a third season following a stint with the Colorado Rockies organization in 2014.

The Riversharks have also signed right-handed pitcher Dan Blewett, 29, to return to the team for a second consecutive season. Blewett joined the Riversharks in May 2014 and appeared in 39 games for the team, posting a 5-3 record and recording a 4.04 ERA with 61 strikeouts. Blewett played for four different Independent League teams prior to joining the Riversharks and brings a career 4.10 ERA and 260 strikeouts to the team this year.

Right-handed pitcher Wes Torrez, 24, joins the Riversharks for a second season. A May addition to the team last year, Torrez appeared in 22 games, posting a 5-5 record and a 4.38 ERA in 20 starts with the team. Torrez previously pitched for the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League, appearing in four games with the team during the 2013 season. Torrez is the son of former Major League pitcher Mike Torrez, who played for seven different teams during 18 seasons, including the 1977 New York Yankees World Series team.
