CAMDEN, N.J. - The Camden Riversharks have added former Riversharks catcher, major league champion and Pennsville Township native, Chris Widger, to the coaching staff for the 2013 season.

Widger, a 2005 World Series champion and nine-year veteran of Major League Baseball (MLB), joins the Riversharks as Camden's pitching coach. A 1992 MLB draft pick and member of the 2004 Riversharks team, Widger will take his first professional coaching position with Camden after coaching at Pennsville Memorial in New Jersey in 2012.

Widger will join manager Ron Karkovice and bench coach Brett Bonvechio on the 2013 coaching staff. Karkovice served as bench coach for the Riversharks in 2012 while former Riversharks infielder Bonvechio overtook hitting coach duties in 2012. Karkovice was named the manager of the Riversharks in December, following Jeff Scott's departure for the Sugar Land Skeeters.

"It's great to have Chris Widger back with the Riversharks," said Adam Lorber, General Manager for the Camden Riversharks. "After winning a World Series and playing for the Riversharks, he understands the purpose of the league and will be a great addition to the clubhouse."
