Camden Riversharks News Release
This Friday, July 18th, the Camden Riversharks, Battleship New Jersey, and McAllister Towing will partner to present a Homerun Derby off of the ship's deck and into the Delaware River. The homerun derby will run from 10am-1pm, and feature Camden Riversharks hitters. Individuals are also urged to participate and register in the homerun derby.
This Friday's event will mark the first time a homerun derby, or any baseball-related activity, will take place on Battleship New Jersey, the ship that served in World War II, the Koren War, and the Vietnam War. Individuals can participate in the Homerun Derby alongside the Camden Riversharks and will receive five swings off of the battleship's deck for $15. Participants will swing off of a hitting tee. Proceeds from each ticket sold will be donated toward Battleship New Jersey.
If you would only like to observe the homerun derby, entry onto the battleship's deck is free of charge. A tour of the rest of the Battleship New Jersey comes with an additional charge.
The Homerun Derby will coincide with Military Appreciation Night later that evening at Campbell's Field, where all military members will be honored throughout the game. For this game, all active duty personnel and veterans will receive a free 200 level ticket when they present a military I.D. at the box office. If you participate in the Homerun Derby, you will also receive a free ticket to Military Appreciation Night, which begins at 7:05pm. Be sure to arrive early for the game that evening, as the first 500 fans twelve and under will receive a Riversharks mini bat presented by Chandler Bat. Gates open at 6:05pm.
