Riverhounds SC Signs Goalkeeper Nathan Ingham
July 25, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has signed goalkeeper Nathan Ingham for the remainder of the 2018 season with a club option for the 2019 season, pending USL and USSF approval.
Ingham, 25, joins the club after most recently playing for Calgary Foothills FC of the Premier Development League earlier this year. Prior to his time with Calgary, he started eight games over two seasons (2016-17) with North American Soccer League side FC Edmonton. During this period, he also was loaned to Toronto FC II for a brief stint in 2016 and made two appearances with the USL squad.
"He's a good athlete," head coach Bob Lilley said. "He looked good in a trial period with us. He's a good shot-stopper and pretty comfortable with his feet. He's in the right part of his career where we feel like he's going to continue to get better. We're putting him in a good environment with other good, young keepers and goalkeeper coach Hunter Gilstrap. We feel like they're going to compete and push each other, making each of them better."
Prior to his professional career, Ingham competed at Florida Gulf Coast University from 2011-15. While with the Eagles, he graduated as the program's all-time goals-against average (GAA) leader, recording a 0.98 GAA in 5,903 career minutes. In addition, he finished as the Atlantic Sun Conference's all-time career shutout leader (26 career clean sheets) upon his graduation from Florida Gulf Coast. Ingham helped propel the Eagles to regular season conference championships each season and three Atlantic Sun Tournament titles.
The Keswick, Ontario, Canada native also was previously a member of the Canada National Team at the under-20 level.
Ingham joins rostered goalkeepers Dan Lynd, Mike Kirk and Kyle Morton. Morton has been out since May due to a lower-body injury.
