Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Dutch Lions grabbed a stoppage-time game- winner as they took a 2-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday night at Beavercreek Stadium. Remco Klaasse had the winning goal for the Dutch Lions, who had to play for more than an hour down to 10 men.

Both teams had positive energy early on, with both teams looking to get forward quickly when they had possession. The game turned in Pittsburgh's favor in the 29th minute, however, as Dayton's Eli Garner was sent off after an off-the-ball incident, giving the Riverhounds a man-advantage for the final hour of the game.

It was the Dutch Lions who took the lead, however, as Gibson Bardsley produced a fine individual effort to give his side the lead in the 44th minute. In stoppage time the Riverhounds hit back, as Alfonso Motagalvan's angled cross from the right was headed home by Jose Angulo at the far post, leaving the game tied at the break.

The game continued to be physical in the second half, with neither side able to find much in the way of scoring chances. Pittsburgh came close in the final minute of game, Matt Williams making a good save to keep the game even, and that proved to be crucial in the third minute of stoppage time when Joe Broekhuizen headed down a corner kick and Klaasse was able to roof a finish from six yards out to give his side victory.

The Riverhounds continue on the road next weekend, visiting the Charlotte Eagles and Charleston Battery.
