Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

Pittsburgh - In the final weekend of the USL PRO season, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds return to Highmark Stadium to match-up against the newly crowned 2013 Regular Season Champions, the Richmond Kickers, on Saturday night. Heading into the match, the Riverhounds have secured a playoff berth and the Kickers have locked down home matches throughout the playoffs; the home finale for the Pittsburgh side has implications for their final seeding in the playoffs. The match is slated for a 7:00 p.m. kick off.

With seven matches remaining in the season throughout the league and the top eight teams receiving their punch ticket into the coveted post-season, only the Kickers (first) and the Orlando City Lions (second) have solidified their position within the playoff race. The Riverhounds, along with the Charleston Battery, Harrisburg City Islanders, Charlotte Eagles, and L.A. Blues have secured a playoff berth, with the Dayton Dutch Lions, Wilmington Hammerheads, and VSI Tampa Bay battling for the eighth and final seed.

Pending their result against the Kickers and the additional results throughout the USL PRO, the Riverhounds could finish as high as the sixth seed or fall as low as the eighth seed. With multiple teams playing in critical match-ups this weekend, the feeling within the league has already reached a playoff-like atmosphere.

Following Saturday night's match, a fireworks display presented by Pyrotecnico will light up the City skyline once again, capping off a fantastic summer of soccer for the Riverhounds and their inaugural season at Highmark Stadium.

Playoff scenarios will be set on Sunday, for more playoff information visit Riverhounds.com.
