RiverHawks' Forced to Release Skoggard

October 31, 2012 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release

Augusta, GA--The Augusta RiverHawks have announced that due to immigration issues they have been forced to place goaltender Peter Skoggard on waivers. The RiverHawks have also waived defenseman Leland Fidler.

"This is obviously not what we had hoped for when we brought Peter in," said RiverHawks' President Mark Richards. "Unfortunately, his immigration request was turned down and we could no longer afford to continue to carry three goaltenders on our roster. We had to do what was in the best interests of the Augusta RiverHawks, and in this situation it means letting go of a very good goaltender."

Skoggard was preparing to play his third season in Augusta. Last season he played in 22 games for the RiverHawks, recording a goals against average of 2.65 and a save percentage of .906. His season was truncated, however, due to similar issues with immigration that he is currently experiencing.

Goaltenders Robby Moss and Alex Beaudry remain on the RiverHawks' roster.

The RiverHawks' open at home on November 2 & 3 on the Phoenix HVCR Ice at the James Brown Arena. Both games will begin at 7:35PM. Single-game tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased in advance by calling the RiverHawks at 706 993 2645. Season tickets and Flex Packs are still available. Additional information on the Team, tickets, and schedule can be found on the RiverHawks' home on the web, www.augustariverhawks.com, or by calling 706-993-2645.
