RiverHawks Fall Short of Extending Eight Game Winning Streak

February 11, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release

The Augusta RiverHawks looked like they were on their way to extending their eight game winning streak to nine games, until they ran out of gas in the third period giving up four goals to the Fayetteville FireAntz and losing 5-2.

The RiverHawks remain in second place in the Southern Professional Hockey League as the Pensacola Ice Flyers lost to the Louisiana Ice Gators. The RiverHawks are also still two points behind the first-place Mississippi Surge as the Surge also lost to the Huntsville Havoc.

The FireAntz opened the scoring when Anthony Perdicaro took a pass from Nathaniel Brooks and beat RiverHawks[ goaltender Adam Avramenko. The RiverHawks quickly replied as Branden Kosolofsky scored just over three minutes later. Kosolofsky drove to the net and received a pass from Travis Dunstall that he one-timed into the back of the net.

The second period saw just a single goal scored. The RiverHawks took the lead while on the powerplay as defenseman Luke Lucyk took a shot from the point that was deflected in by Neil Graham.

The third period surge from the FireAntz began early, as Perdicaro scored his second of the game just 1:33 into the third period on a wicked snap shot that went into the top corner of the net. DJ Fimiani, Jeffery Borrows, and Jordan Behler also added goals.

The RiverHawks are back in action at the James Brown Arena Thursday, February 17th as they face Pensacola Ice Flyers. It's a Pucks, Bucks, and Brews night with dollar drafts.
