March 10, 2003 - A-League (A-League)
Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release
(Cincinnati, OH) â The Cincinnati Riverhawks will open their preseason training camp March 22. This year's camp will last for two weeks and the preseason will include four exhibition games including one against an MLS team.
Nick Ranieri, who has coached the Riverhawks since their first season in 1997, is optimistic about the upcoming season. "We are looking forward to the 2003 season," Ranieri said. "We currently have 12 players signed to the roster including some from Europe and are hoping to sign a few more veterans. There will also be room for some young, talented players who we look to recruit during training camp. This year we will push to have fun playing, but we will also try our hardest to make it to the playoffs."
All of the preseason exhibition games will be away games, though they will be within easy driving distance for Riverhawks fans. The Hawks open the preseason March 27 at the University of Louisville at 7:30 pm. The team will then move on to Columbus where the Crew will host a game on April 1 at 7:00. The final two preseason games will be at the University of Dayton on April 9 at 7:00 and at the University of Cincinnati April 16 at 7:00.
The Riverhawks will play three more exhibition games after the April 18 start of the regular season. The first of these will be at Wright State University, April 23 at 7:00. The second will be against the Ohio State University at a time and place to be determined. The last exhibition game will be at Xavier University on April 30.
The Cincinnati Riverhawks would like to thank the City of Evendale for hosting the team's 2003 training camp.
