
RiverHawks Announce Funds Donated to Vision Discovery Institute

The Augusta RiverHawks, proud member of the Southern Professional Hockey League, is proud to announce the total funds raised by its fans during the team's St. Patrick's Day game in support of the Vision Discovery Institute at the Georgia Health Sciences University.
On Saturday, March 17th the RiverHawks wore specially designed St. Patrick's Day-themed uniforms during their game. Immediately after the game, the jerseys were auctioned off to RiverHawks' fans. The fans raised over $6,000.00 which has been donated to the Vision Discovery Institute.
"The Vision Discovery Institute has been a fantastic partner of our since day one," said RiverHawks Vice-President of Business Operations Ken Vezina. "We are fortunate to have a leader on the cutting edge of vision research here in our community, and it's a pleasure to be able to team up with them for such a fun event such as this. We feel it's a very worthy cause, and it was great to see our fans support the Vision Discovery Institute and the RiverHawks so strongly that night."
Over the course of the 2011-12 season, the RiverHawks and its fans raised over $50,000 in funds that were directly donated to various charitable endeavors throughout the CSRA. In addition to funds raised, the RiverHawks players and staff regularly visited schools and youth-based community organizations to present a positive message to young people throughout the area.
