Columbus Riverdragons News Release

The Riverdragons players and coaches will read to approximately 150 students from three local elementary schools immediately following the team's morning practice session as part of the NBDL's Read To Achieve Week activities. The Riverdragons will open the last 30 minutes of practice for the students to observe prior to breaking up the team's 15-man roster into individual reading groups. The Riverdragons will also distribute Read To Achieve learning materials immediately following the program.

The Columbus Riverdragons are proud to once again participate with area schools and community youth organizations in Read To Achieve, a year-round program that will reach millions of children in the United States and Canada. The National Basketball Development League and its eight teams support the program with the NBA, the WNBA, and their teams.

Since the Riverdragons landed in Columbus June 20, 2001, Riverdragons players, coaches and front office personnel have made over 200 appearances in Columbus area schools in the name of Read To Achieve. The Riverdragons family distributed over 2,400 books in 2001-02 and aims to make a similar contribution to the community this season
