Riverdragons Add Post Player

GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 15, 2003) - The Columbus Riverdragons of the National Basketball Development League have acquired center Jonathan Kerner, according to an announcement today by Executive Director Karl Hicks and Columbus Head Coach Jeff Malone.

A 6-foot-11, 245-pound post player from East Carolina University ('97), Kerner was in training camp with the Seattle Supersonics this season. He has also logged time with the NBA's Orlando Magic and New York Knicks, as well as played internationally in Russia.

After beginning his collegiate career at Florida State, Kerner played his last two seasons at East Carolina University where he averaged 9.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in his final season.

Strong played in 18 games for the Riverdragons, starting 15. Columbus' first selection in the 2002 NBDL Draft (6th overall), he averaged 9.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Kerner is expected to be in uniform when Columbus hosts the North Charleston Lowgators Friday at 7 p.m.
