
Riverdragons Acquire DeMario Jones

GREENVILLE, S.C., December 2 â The Columbus Riverdragons have acquired forward DeMario Jones, according to an announcement today by National Basketball Development League Director of Basketball Operations Chris Alpert and Columbus Head Coach Jeff Malone. The Riverdragons released forward Patrick Doctor, who suffered a season-ending knee injury.
At 6-foot-7 and 220 pounds, Jones was a third round selection (16th overall) selection by the Roanoke Dazzle in the 2003 NBDL Draft. He was released by the Dazzle on Nov. 13. Jones played collegiately at Central Oklahoma, where he averaged 18.7 points and 6.6 rebounds as a senior.
Doctor, the Riverdragons sixth round pick (32nd overall), played in three games, averaging 21.7 minutes, 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
Jones is expected to be in uniform when the Riverdragons (0-3) play host to the Fayetteville Patriots (1-2) Wednesday at the Columbus Civic Center. Tip off is set or 7 p.m. ET.
Jones will wear jersey #6.
