Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC- The Charleston RiverDogs will host the Fifth Annual "Run, Forrest, Run 5K" on Saturday, April 26, presented by Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Coburg Dairy and Pivotal Fitness. The race begins at 5:15 p.m. at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park and is held in conjunction with the RiverDogs' home game against the Columbus Catfish.
Proceeds from the event benefit the MUSC Storm Eye Institute.
The course is TAC certified and features split times at each mile marker as well as a water station at the halfway point.
"The race is unique in that it's an early-evening start," said RiverDogs Special Events Director Melissa McCants. "The race begins in front of The Joe and finishes at home plate where runners are greeted by the RiverDogs' players."
Advance race registration (received by April 18) fee is $25 and includes a race t-shirt, one ticket to that evening's RiverDogs game, awards ceremony and a post-race party with dinner provided by Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. The registration fee after April 18 is $30. Bubba Gump Shrimp Company's very own Forrest Gump will be on hand to start the rain-or-shine race and mingle with runners throughout the evening.
Additional RiverDogs game tickets are $6 each. Saturday's 7:05 pm game features the opportunity for lucky fans to have a chance to win the boss's money. Also, the first 1,000 fans will receive a RiverDogs kite.
Registration forms are available at the RiverDogs Box Office at Riley Park, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, The Extra Mile Running Shop and online at www.riverdogs.com. For additional information, please call the RiverDogs at 843/723-7241.
