Northern Kentucky River Monsters News Release

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS - The Northern Kentucky River Monsters are bringing the major leagues of Arena Football to town; even if it's for one night.

The River Monsters and the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League will be holding joint tryout at the Midwest Hoops on January 16. The workout starts promptly at 5 p.m.

It's a chance for local players to perform and impress not only the Talons coaching staff, but the River Monsters as well. Representatives from Tulsa, including most of their football operations personnel, will be in attendance.

"We promised to set up an AF1 workout," said River Monsters General Manager Jared Lorenzen. "We went a step further, and brought the tryout to Northern Kentucky."

This will also mark the final public workout for any one hoping to get into training camp for the River Monsters.

It will be a fully padded tryout, thus those wanting to workout must supply their own equipment. The cost of this free agent workout is $165, and all participants need to click here to register.

The Talons won the Southwest Division in 2010 with a 10-6 record, and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the eventual AFL runners-up Tampa Bay Storm. Tulsa starts training camp in February with an eye on their opener when they host the Georgia Force on March 13.

Northern Kentucky, which plays in the Ultimate Indoor Football League, kicks off their inaugural season in February when they travel to Canton to meet the Canton Cougars. The River Monsters will play their home games at the Bank of Kentucky Center on the campus of Northern Kentucky University.
