Northern Kentucky River Monsters News Release

SAGINAW, MI - Saginaw scored a touchdown with 10 seconds remaining to post the 63-58 victory over Northern Kentucky Friday at the Dow Center in Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) action.

The loss prevented the River Monsters from securing the top seed in the UIFL playoffs, however, the Northern Kentucky still hold a one-game lead over Saginaw in the quest for home field throughout the playoffs. It also snapped NKY's league-high seven-game winning streak.

Northern Kentucky (9-2) will return home for the next two weeks. The River Monsters host Huntington May 14 and then the first of two match-ups with Eastern Kentucky on May 21.

The Sting converted two third downs on the final possession, including the winning touchdown - an 11-yard strike from Tommy Jones to LaVaughn Macon. Northern Kentucky had a chance to pull out the victory, driving down to the 12 yardline with two seconds remaining. However, Lorenzen was sacked to end the game.

A slow start to the third quarter proved to be the undoing for the River Monsters as Saginaw scored 16 straight points to open the stanza. A fumble on the opening possession led to a Sting touchdown, then the Sting defense recorded a safety.

Another Saginaw touchdown gave the home team the four-point lead.

With Lorenzen on the sidelines, Jon D'Angelo led the River Monsters on a six-play, 30-yard drive that culminated on an 11-yard pass to Harry Lewis.

Lorenzen was impressive throwing the ball, completing 23-of-30 passing for 276 yards and four touchdowns. Ten of his completions went to Idlette, who finished with 145 yards and two touchdowns. Lewis added eight catches for 92 yards and a score, while Ricardo Lenhart had eight receptions for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Kenneth Joshen led the way with nine tackles and a pass break-up, while D'Angelo added six tackles.
