The Cedar Rapids River Kings have signed linebacker Malik Salter to their 2019 Indoor Football League roster.

Slater (6-0, 232, Valdosta State University) comes to Cedar Rapids for his rookie season of professional football.

While at Valdosta Slater led the defense with 83 tackles his senior season, including getting 16 total tackles in two games. The linebacker was named to the All-GSC team prior to his senior season and went on to earn first-team All-GSC honors.

He was also selected to the All-Super Region Two defense by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association.

Slater will reunite with defensive back KJ Jenkins in Cedar Rapids. Slater and Jenkins played at Jacksonville University, helping lead the team to a combined 18-4 while Slater was with the team (2014-15). While a Dolphin, Slater was second on the team in tackles as a sophomore, recording 83 total. He was also in on 26 total tackles as a freshman.

Slater is from Tallahassee, Florida, and attended James S. Rickard High School.
