Riptide Head Home

June 11, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
New England Riptide News Release

The New England Riptide head home this week to open their 2007 home season against the number seven ranked team in the world, Venezuela. The Venezuelans have a great pitching staff of Marianell Castellanos, Mariela Espinoza and Mriangee Bogado (who played for the Riptide for one month last year), although have been know to at times struggle offensively.

The Riptide are now 3-5 and are hoping that the long home stand will start to turn things around in a quest for their second straight championship. Carri Martin and Jackie Pasquerella have been swinging hot bats for the Riptide and coach Sharon Drysdale feels that many of last year's stars will come around shortly.

The Riptide play against Venezuela on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:05 at Martin Softball Field and Sunday at 5:05. Thursday's game will be preceded by the presentation of rings and the Cowles Cup by Lowell mayor, William Martin. The Riptide will continue their home stand after Venezuela with series against the Chicago Bandits and Philadelphia Force.
