
Riptide Defeated by FireWolves in 2021-22 Season Finale

Uniondale, NY - Dan Lomas scored three goals and Jeff Teat had five points on a goal and four assists, but the New York Riptide (6-12) were defeated 17-9 by the Albany FireWolves (9-9) at MVP Arena in Albany, NY Saturday evening.
Crawford opened up the scoring for the Riptide, and after Albany scored, Teat and Dan Lomas each tallied to put the Riptide up 3-1. The teams traded goals with Kieran McArdle scoring for the Riptide, to keep the lead at 4-2. In the second quarter, Larson Sundown opened up the scoring, and pushed the lead to three. After three straight goals by the FireWolves, Tyler Digby scored a shorthanded goal to take a 6-5 lead. The FireWolves would tie the game with three seconds to play in the half to send the teams into halftime 6-6.
In the third, the Riptide were outscored 6-0 as Albany went ahead 12-6. The Firewolves scored three times to open up the fourth quarter up 15-6. Dan Lomas scored twice for the Riptide as the teams traded goals in the final frame. Goaltender Will Johnston made his NLL debut and played the game's final 9:42, making three saves. Darryl Robertson scored his first goal of the season, which marked the final goal of the game.
Jeff Teat finished his rookie season fourth in the NLL in points, and third in the NLL in assists, while leading all rookies in goals, assists, points, and powerplay assists, despite only playing in 16 games. The rookie broke single-season rookie records in points and assists. Steven Orleman finished his rookie season fifth in the NLL in minutes and broke the NLL rookie record for minutes last weekend against Halifax. Jay Thorimbert finished the season fourth in the NLL in faceoff wins.
While this is the final game for the Riptide in the 2021-22 season, the team will return to Nassau Coliseum in December for the 2022-23 season.
