Rios Nets Pair of Goals in Budweiser Man of the Match Performance

Nashville SC News Release

MATTHEWS, N.C. - It appears Nashville SC forward Daniel Ríos won't be cooling off anytime soon.

After losing a five-match goal scoring streak in Nashville's 0-0 draw against Bethlehem a week ago, Ríos made up for it by bagging two goals in a Budweiser Man of the Match performance with a 3-1 win over the Charlotte Independence. Ríos potted a goal in each half to move his season total to 17, just one off the league's Golden Boot lead.

As Nashville's target man, Ríos was dangerous throughout the 90 minutes on Saturday, taking six shots, including four on target. Both shots on target that didn't hit the back of the net were well-saved as Ríos hunted for Nashville SC's first-ever hat trick. In addition to the scoring threat, Ríos providing solid hold up play as the target forward, distributing 25 passes at an 84% clip.

The 24-year-old has been the product of consistency for Nashville SC, scoring nine goals in NSC's last 10 matches, scoring in eight of the 10 matches.

It will be a very important week for Ríos and Nashville SC with home matches on Wednesday against New York Red Bulls II and Saturday night vs. Charleston Battery at First Tennessee Park. A win on Wednesday, mixed with a Tampa Bay Rowdies loss that same night, would propel Nashville SC into first place in the Eastern Conference.

Tickets to the two matches are still available now for as low as $5.
