Riordan: Part of the Knighthawks Family

Rochester Knighthawks News Release
Mike Riordan hasn't always been a season ticket holder, but it sure feels that way. You could even argue that he is one of the first Rochester Knighthawks fans ever, considering he attended their first game in 1995.
"I was hooked after that one game. It's the best bang for your buck," Riordan said.
Riordan and his wife, Lois, saw the local ad in the paper for the very first Knighthawks game and decided it would be fun. Besides, their son, Brandon, was young and might enjoy it as well. Brandon still comes along once in a while to watch the games, but his parents have missed only a handful of games. Three years ago, Mike and Lois became season ticket holders.
"We used to get the buy-one-get-one-free tickets, but we still would go to every game," Mike said. "We decided to get season tickets because it makes you feel like part of the team, part of the family."
The Riordans support all of the local teams throughout the year, but they are most loyal to the Knighthawks. Coming to the games for all of these years has made lacrosse their favorite sport. A big part of that is the excitement is being a part of the "7th Man," who fueled the team's run to three straight Champion's Cups.
"It's everything," Riordan said. "The noise, the music, the fast pace, the atmosphere is just awesome. The best way to put: It is lightning."
"The fans get into it big time and you can tell it really juices up the players," his wife added.
Riordan has been around long enough to have relationships with a number of people within the organization, including some players and Knighthawks owner and general manager Curt Styres, whom he says he talks to often.
"Curt is really good guy. He's like one of us," Riordan said.
Riordan even takes vacation time from his job in order to attend games because his shift work schedule sometimes interferes. Seeing the Knighthawks win games and receiving recognition such as the Season Ticket Holder of the Game makes it all worth it.
"I appreciate it very much; I was shocked," he said. "I really didn't expect it all."
