Rimrockers end Utah Streak at 23, 104-97

Little Rock, AR - Todd Day was spectacular in the second half with 30 points, and Kareem Reid hit two key free throws with 23 seconds left as Arkansas defeated Utah 104-97 in Little Rock.Utah had won 23 straight games and fell to 23-1, Arkansas improved to 25-4 .The game was everything fans hoped, as the two teams gave a glimpse at the best of the ABA and what it has to offer.

The Rimrockers and Snowbears put on a great show for the 5400 fans in attendence. Clay Tucker had 10 points early, but Arkansas led after one period 20-19 behind 6 points from Jamaal Davis. The two teams went back and forth until Utah went on a 12-2 run to end the half leading 49-39. Curtis Millage and Nate Driggers each had ten points in the quarter, while Harold Arceneaux added 8. Kareem Reid paced the RimRockers with 10 points in the half.

Arceneaux and Todd Day took over the third, with Arceneaux dropping in 10 points while Day cut into Utah's 13 point lead. Day shook off a horrible first half, scoring 13 points in the third to go with Reid's 7 points. Utah lead after three quarters 74-68.

The fourth quarter felt like a playoff game as the teams traded leads and baskets. Day hit 3 three pointers to keep the game close, and Oliver Miller hit a three to give Arkansas the lead, only to have Arceneaux answer with a three of his own. Utah led 94-93 behind a slam by Cameron Koford, but Day's 17 points in the quarter was too much for Utah. Reid hit two free throws to make it 100-97 with 23 seconds left, and Arkansas held Utah scoreless the final seconds and got free throws from Brandon Dean and Day down the stretch to clinch the game. Day finished with 35 points,while Reid finished with 21 points and 11 assists. Arceneaux and Tucker finished with 25 points for Utah, while Millage added 23 off the bench for Ike Austin. Nate Driggers finished with 12 points in his Snowbears debut.

The same two teams will face each other Saturday at Alltel Arena at 7pm. Shawn Micheals of the WWE will serve as Arkansas' 11th man and will sign autographs before the game.
