Riders name Joe Womack Director of Player Personnel

Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager/Vice President of Football Operations Eric Tillman announced today Joe Womack has been named the club's Director of Player Personnel.
Womack brings the Riders a wealth of football knowledge after spending the last 35 years in the business. Most recently, Womack has spent the past eight years scouting in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, and the NFL Combine.
Womack first came to the CFL as a player in the 1970's with Winnipeg and Calgary. He also spent time with Chicago in the World Football League and still holds the record for the longest interception return (96 yards) for a touchdown.
After his playing days, Womack joined the Saskatchewan Roughrider's as a scout in 1982. He moved on to work at the CFL office as the Director of Scouting in the mid-1980's. Womack also served as the Director of College Scouting for the B.C. Lions in the 1990's under G.M. Eric Tillman.
"We are very fortunate to have Joe join our organization," stated Tillman. "He will work out of Baton Rouge most of the year, and that is an outstanding location, given its proximity to the SEC, the SWAC, the BIG 12, Conference USA, and the Sun Belt, all of which are quality football leagues. And, of course, being so close to New Orleans, Houston, and Dallas offer significant advantages in terms of scouting NFL prospects.
In terms of experience, Joe's combination of background in the CFL and in the National Football League speaks for itself. He is a true pro and a tireless worker who will give us another very valuable set of eyes as we try to build on the foundation we inherited.
And, just as importantly, Joe understands that our Board, Jim, Kent and myself want to build a championship team with an emphasis on character players who will bring credit to the organization, on and off the field."
