CARY, NC - Two weeks after defeating the Carolina RailHawks 1-0 at WakeMed Stadium the Rochester Rhinos returned to North Carolina for the fourth and final match of the season between the two sides. Entering the night the season series was tied at 1-1-1.

Battling temperatures in the upper nineties the Rhinos took the early advantage. After pressuring the home team early on, Tyler Rosenlund netted his first regular season goal of the year. The goal came in the 15th minute after Darren Spicer hit forward Isaac Kissi on the run into the 18. Kissi dealt the ball to his left where Rosenlund, cut back eluding RailHawk defender John Gilkerson who ran into goalie Eric Reed allowing Rosenlund to convert the opportunity for a 1-0 lead.

The RailHawks nearly netted the equalizer in the 35th minute when Josh Gardner sent a ball into the box. Allen Russell managed to find his way between Rochester defenders Troy Roberts and Tyler Bellamy to get a head on the ball, but the Carolina threat didn't amount to a goal as the header went wide. A minute later a give-and-go with Rochester's Rosenlund and Ian Bennett nearly produced the midfielder's second goal of the match, however the shot went high.

Carolina had a nice build up in the 65th minute when Daniel Paladinicrossed a ball to Matt Watson whose header was stopped by Neal Kitson. The 71st minute saw the RailHawks generate their best scoring chance as Watson sent Gregory Richardson into the box. Richardson crossed the ball to Andriy Budnyywho was positioned three yards in front of Kitson but could not manage to connect on the ball resulting in a Rhino goal kick.

The Rhinos added to their lead late in the second half when second half substitute Adam West raced down the left flank crossing a ball to Ryan Heins. Heins positioned himself nicely to one-time the ball past Reed for a 2-0 Rochester lead.

The Rhinos would maintain their two goal advantage for the remainder of the match earning an impressive win on the road over one of the league's top teams.

POSTGAMES NOTES

The win over the RailHawks improves the Rhinos to 11-5-6 and leaves them just two points behind USL Conference leader Austin. The match was the sixth shutout of the season for rookie netminder Neal Kitson who improves to 6-4-2 in goal for Rochester.

Rochester's Aaron Pitchkolan returned to action for the Rhinos after missing the last two games due to a red card suspension received in Puerto Rico on July 24th.

Rochester's second goal of the match by Ryan Heins was his fourth of the season tying him with Isaac Kissi and Anthony Hamilton for the club lead in 2010. Kissi's assist on Tyler Rosenlund's goal gives him ten points this season which ties him with Heins for the scoring lead on the club. Heins' goal gives him ten points in 2010.
