Rochester Rhinos News Release
ORLANDO, FL - The Rochester Rhinos visit the Orlando City Lions on Sunday, April 13th at 6PM in Florida's Citrus Bowl for the second match of their back-to-back road trip to open the 2013 USL PRO season. The match can be seen in its entirety live via streaming video on UNATION at uslnation.com.
The Rhinos lost to first year club VSI Tampa Bay FC 3:0 in Plant City Stadium on Saturday, April 14th, 2013 in the first half of their road trip. Rookie Karamba Janneh scored the opening goal in first half stoppage time and fellow rookie Douglas Dos Santos put the match out of reach in the 49th minute when he doubled VSI's advantage. Former Wilmington Hammerheads standout Andriy Budnny finished the scoring in the 74th minute. Goalkeeper Alexander Horwath kept the clean sheet for Tampa.
The Rhinos had been optimistic coming out of training camp after opening an affiliation with Major League Soccer's New England Revolution during the off-season, and adding several players with MLS pedigree or proven production in USL PRO. Rhinos head coach Jesse Myers named six newcomers to his starting line-up on Saturday night, but his revamped roster is going to take some time to get into rhythm.
"We know that the standard of play has to be higher than what we put on the field Saturday night. " Myers said. "We're bringing together a new group of players this year, and we put six new starters out against VSI. We took some lumps, but it's time to learn from what happened last night and try to get better next time out."
