VSI Tampa Bay FC News Release
Tampa, Fla - VSI Tampa Bay FC opened their newly converted home stadium in Plant City Stadium with a resounding three to zero victory over the Rochester Rhinos.
After a neck and neck first 45 minutes that saw neither team mount a successful scoring attack, VSI forward Karamba Janneh was able to put home a header in stoppage time of the first half.
This late first half tally changed the fortunes of both teams, as VSI started the second half with a relentless attack in the second half and Rochester was unable to mount any consistent attacks of their own. Midfielder Douglas Dos Santos drilled the next goal into the upper left corner of the goal from the top right corner of the penalty box.
Not to be outdone, Andriy Budnyy blasted the final goal of the game past the Rochester keeper Kristian Nicht. VSI Tampa Bay FC ended the match with a three to zero win for their inaugural home opener in USL PRO.
The Rochester Rhinos now head to Orlando to face Orlando City at 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday April 14. This is the Rhinos second of five away games before they return to New York for their home opener on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 7:05 p.m. ET.
VSI now sits at 2-2-0 and will face the LOS Angeles Blues in a rematch of the contest that netted them their first ever win on Sunday April 21st at 6:30 p.m.
