Rochester Rhinos News Release
Rochester, NY - The Genesee Brew House today announced it is the official Brewery of the Rochester Rhinos professional soccer team. As part of the partnership, the Rhinos will unveil a Genesee Brew House beer garden in Rochester Rhinos Stadium on June 18, 2016 during Rochester Real Beer week. The grand opening on Saturday will include an appearance by Genesee Brew House Brewmaster Dean Jones, who will do the ceremonial first kick for the team's game against the Louisville City FC and mingle with fans throughout the night.
"As New York State's oldest Brewery, we're proud to support another local icon such as the Rochester Rhinos," said Carrie Duggan, brand manager for Genesee. "The new Genesee Brew House Beer Garden will be a great attraction for soccer fans looking to discover some refreshing new craft beers from our Pilot Brewery or kick-back with some longtime favorites like Genesee Cream Ale. Rochesterians have been enjoying the Genesee Brew House for years, and we're excited to give them another location just across the river."
The latest announcement comes as part of a larger rebuilding initiative by the Rochester Rhinos new owners Wendy and David Dworkin. When the Rhinos went up for sale in late 2015, the Brighton couple bought the reigning United Soccer League team to prevent prospective buyers from moving the team out of Rochester.
David Dworkin, a real estate developer along with his wife Wendy, an attorney, have plans to revive the Rhinos' brand and create enhanced experiences for Rochester's residents and tourists. The business duo plan to invest more than a million dollars by year's end into the team and the stadium. The improvements range from new logos and uniforms to restructuring of the front- office space to enhancing luxury suite experiences.
"We're thrilled to be bringing the Genesee Brew House on as the Rhino's official brewery," said David Dworkin, co-owner of the Rochester Rhinos. "Wendy and I are passionate about investing in the community and what better way to show our commitment than to join forces with Genesee who has such a deep rooted Rochester heritage?"
