RGV Flash Win Inaugural Match

Rio Grande Valley Flash News Release


HIDALGO, Texas - It was a night of many first for the Rio Grande Valley Flash as they won their inaugural match against the Texas Strikers 13-1 at State Farm Arena on Saturday night.

The Flash took a 4-0 after the first period with goals by Angel Hernandez, Damian Garcia, Erick Flores, and Alejandro Morales respectively. Hernandez assisted on the second goal for the Flash. Hernandez scored the first goal of the franchise at 6:46 mark.

The Flash added three more goals in the second period to increment their lead to 7-0 going into the intermission with goals by Jorge Quiroz, Edgar Flores, and Armando Teran.

After the intermission, the Flash continued their scoring display by adding four goals in the third period the last one being a power play goal and the first of the franchise history.

In the last quarter of play, the Flash added a couple of goals by Alejandro Morales for the franchises' first hat trick and one that came on a power play to end the scoring for the Flash. Then with over a minute left, the Strikers added a consolation goal by Chris Meyer and was assisted by Francisco Rioa,

The next game for the Flash is on Sunday, November 25th at the State Farm Arena when they will take on the Dallas Sidekicks with kickoff at 5pm.
