
Flash Lose in Thriller

SAN DIEGO, California- the Rio Grande Valley Flash lost to the Detroit Waza Flo in a thrilling encounter which featured overtime by a score of 6-5 at the Valley View Casino Resort in the Ron Newman Cup Semifinal.
Detroit got on the board early courtesy of a Worteh Sampson goal which came at the 3:45 mark in the first quarter. The Flash responded with a pair of goals to close out the quarter courtesy of Edgar Flores and Jose Malacara.
Detroit would open the second quarter with four goals including a power play tally within 10 minutes to grab a commanding 5-2 lead. Before the half the Flash responded with a goal by Damian Garcia which trimmed the deficit to 5-3 at the break.
The Flash would use a stingy defense during the second half which held the Waza Flo offense scoreless as the Flash used the power play to their advantage.
Garcia would score again in the third quarter as the Flash used the man advantage to make it a one goal game as Armando Teran assisted on the play.
In the final quarter, the Flash used the man advantage once again to tie the game at 5 as Robson de Souza scored and Teran provided the helper. Teran ended the game with four assists in the game, while the Flash went 2-for-4 on the power play.
The Waza Flo offense was not to be denied as they scored in the overtime period which concluded the Flash season in the semifinal round
The RGV Flash are members of the Professional Arena Soccer League Central Division, with 19 teams located across the United States.
