RGV FC Toros Fall to OKC Energy FC in Playoffs

Tampa, Florida- The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros fell to OKC Energy FC 3-2 in the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Ruben Luna and Eric Bird scored for the Toros. Linus Olsson and Colin Bonner, who had a brace, scored for the away team.

The Toros played possession heavy and applied a high line of pressure. RGV's Emilio Garcia had an opportunity in the 17th minute off a corner kick. OKC's goalkeeper, Codi Laurendi denied Ruben Luna's shot after a Kyle Murphy cross. The Toros broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute. Jose "Memo" Rodriguez sent a through ball that allowed Ruben Luna to score.

OKC Energy FC found the tying goal in the second half. Linus Olsson scored the goal in the 73rd minute. The Toros went back to apply pressure and were rewarded shortly after. The Toros' Eric Bird set himself for a mid volley that beat Laurendi. Yair Arboleda had an opportunity to put a dagger in the game and secure the win for the Toros in the 90th minute but he could not put his shot on target.

Colin Bonner headed in a goal after Toros goalkeeper, Devin Perales, came out of his line in stoppage time. Bonner headed in another goal off a corner to give Energy FC the win. The Toros were eliminated after dropping the Western Conference Quarterfinal.
