RGV FC Falls to San Antonio FC

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (1-3-0) fell to San Antonio FC (3-0-0) at H-E-B Park, 1-2 on Sunday evening. Dylan Borczak scored his first professional goal in the match.

RGV FC applied early pressure, having approached the final third on three occasions before the five-minute mark of the match. San Antonio returned the danger in the sixth minute as they tested the defense on the left wing, Justin Dhillon took the shot on target. Colin Miller challenged the shot and earned the save.

Frank Lopez broke away on a solo approach of the goal in the 14th minute but was unable to capitalize as Christian Bonilla made the stop one-on-one.

San Antonio scored at the 18th minute on a right-wing attack where David Loera and Elliot Collier connected in the area. Collier controlled the pass and struck a shot to the right side of the goal, 0-1.

RGV FC equalized in the 44th minute as Isidro Martinez sent a laser cross from the deep right wing to the center of the 6-yard-box. Dylan Borczak took a diving header shot to the left center of goal, marking his first professional goal, 1-1. Martinez now totals 10 career assists as a RGV FC player.

At the 45th minute, San Antonio FC recovered the lead as David Loera found a loose ball inside the 6-yard box and tapped it into goal, 1-2.

Despite second half dominance and pressure, Rio Grande was unable to steal a point at home and looks to rest before their next matchup on April 9. RGV FC totaled 15 shots on the night, a season high.
