
RGV FC Falls to Houston Dynamo

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley FC fell to the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night at H-E-B Park, 0-5.
The match consisted of four 30-minute periods where the Dynamo put the tempo in the match since kick off. In the 23rd minute of the first period, defender Adam Lundkvist sent a ball to Tomas Martinez where he sent it past the RGV FC goalkeeper to the bottom right corner scoring the first goal of the night, 0-1.
During the second period, Maynor Figueroa sent a cross to Mauro Manotas where he then slid to take the shot sending it to the left corner past the Toros keeper in the 7th minute, 0-2. In the 17th minute, Erik McCue sent a pass to DeShane Beckford, but the shot was too far which did not allow Beckford to reach it. RGV FC trialist attempted to threaten Houston's goal as he sent a missed shot to the top cross bar.
In the third period, the game was kept tight as both teams did not allow any goals. In the 23rd minute, Niko Hansen sent the ball to Christian Ramirez inside the box, but Ramirez missed his opportunity.
In the last period of the game, RGV FC gave up three goals. Michael Salazar scored a brace where his first goal came in the 3rd minute as he sent a shot from the right side of the box to the left of the goal past Toros keeper, 0-3. His second goal was scored in the 21st minute when he dribbled the ball in sending a shot to the back of the net, 0-4. RGV FC conceded a penalty where Tommy McNamara converted the penalty kick giving the Dynamo a 5-0 lead.
Rio Grande Valley FC Toros will kick off their 2020 USL Championship season on Sunday, March 8 as they host LA Galaxy II at H-E-B Park. Kickoff will be at 6:30 p.m. CST. All matches this season will be televised on ESPN+.
