SD Loyal Adds Another Goalie, Defender and Midfielder

San Diego, CA - San Diego Loyal Soccer Club (SD Loyal) announced today the signing of Carlos Alvarez, Jacob (Jake) Fenlason and Jack Metcalf, pending league and federation approval. The players will join the Club for its inaugural USL Championship season in 2020. The first regular season home game is scheduled to take place on March 7 at Torero Stadium against the Las Vegas Lights FC.

"The addition of Jack, Carlos, and Jake give us three more proven players heading into our inaugural season with Team 1," said EVP of Soccer Operations and First Team Manager, Landon Donovan. "They have tremendous quality on the field and will be great leaders in our locker room and within in our community"

Alvarez has spent most of his professional career in MLS after being selected second overall pick in the 2013 SuperDraft by Chivas USA. Since, the Southern California native has had stints with Colorado Rapids, San Antonio FC, Los Angeles FC and, most recently, Loudoun United FC. Fenlason, a San Diego native, played for the University of Akron before signing with United Soccer League side Orlando City B in 2016 then joining Saint Louis FC. Englishman Metcalf joins SD Loyal after stints with Charlotte Independence and Welch club Bangor City.
