Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Rio Grande Valley FC (6-7-9) dropped three points at Las Vegas Lights FC (2-12-8) 2-1 on Saturday night. Lights FC managed a well-played performance to earn their first home win of the season and only their second overall win of the year as Rio Grande Valley were unable to find any rhythm on the pitch to make Las Vegas uncomfortable at home.

Preston Tabort Etaka opened the scoring on the night in high fashion as he sent a rifling shot, well-placed into the top left corner of goal, past a fully stretched Tyler Deric to make it 1-0 Las Vegas Lights at the 27th minute.

Wahab Ackwei gave a ball away in front of goal, recovered by Tabort Etaka on the turnover. Etaka dribbled past two RGV defenders to create a clear shot at goal as he tapped a ball to Deric's right, making it 2-0 on the night as he secured a brace at the 37-minute mark.

Erik Pimentel pulled one from well beyond the box, placing a nice shot to the right of goal to steal one back for Rio Grande at the 90th minute, making it 2-1 as the Toros hoped for a comeback effort on the night.

Las Vegas locked in their first home win of the season despite allowing Rio Grande Valley to take 11 shots, landing five on target. Lights FC had four shots on target, two of which were the pair of spectacular goals by Tabort Etaka on the night.

RGV FC continue their August road schedule as they prepare to face Louisville City FC, another formidable opponent out of the Eastern conference.
