Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (7-8-10) faced San Diego Loyal SC (10-7-7) at H-E-B Park. The visiting side claimed a road victory behind a brace by Tumi Moshobane, 2-3.
San Diego Loyal created the first true danger approach as Adrien Perez received a lobbed pass at the right of the 18-yard box and challenged Tyler Deric; Perez took a shot, but Tyler Deric was able to make the block with his extended feet to clear the danger at just 10-minutes, 0-0.
Ronaldo Damus won a physical battle inside the box against Erik Pimentel to gain control of the ball and send a shot to the right of goal where Tyler Deric was caught off guard, making the match 0-1 at the 32nd minute.
Just two minutes later, Tumi Moshobane capitalized for San Diego as they quickly made the match 0-2 in favor of the road team with a tapped in shot in traffic inside the box. The goal happened at the 34th minute and stunned Rio Grande Valley FC who were playing a well possessed match up until those two instances in the game.
Rio Grande wasted no time to start off the second half as Jonathan Ricketts brought life back into the match for the Toros with a riflinf shot from outside the box to the top right corner, leaving Koke Vegas with no option, 1-2 at the 48th minute.
Jonathan Ricketts was fouled inside the box as he attempted to receive a crossing ball, the foul drew a penalty at the 71st minute. On the ensuing try, Christian Pinzon put the ball away to equalize the match as the clock struck 73 minutes of action, 2-2.
Just as the game was at a deadlock, San Diego forced a play outside the box to catch Moshobane free as he controlled and dribbled into the box, sending a shot past Tyler Deric to make it 2-3 in favor of the visiting side once more and lock in a brace on the night at the 77th minute.
RGV FC were unable to capitalize on some late charges, as they dropped a tough one at H-E-B Park at the hands of San Diego Loyal SC in what is likely the final match between the sides in history.
