Fresno FC News Release
FRESNO, Calif - Kyle Reynish made a season-best nine saves and Jose "Chiva" Cuevas opened his Fresno FC account as the Foxes played to a 1-1 draw at Reno 1868 FC in USL regular season action on Saturday.
The Foxes' starting goalie had a stellar night right from the opening whistle to help the Foxes extend their unbeaten streak to three matches. The 6-foot-3 Valencia native made back-to-back saves at the 13th and 15th minutes to keep Reno off early.
At the 34th minute, right back Bradley Kamdem Fewo sent in a low cross to the top of the box that Cuevas sent across goal on his first touch to give the Foxes the lead. It was Cuevas' first goal with Fresno FC and first in the USL since the 2015 season with Arizona United SC. The assist was Kamdem Fewo's team-best third of the season.
Reno 1868 FC answered back at the beginning of the second half, as substitute Brian Baker tapped in the equalizer at the 46th minute.
Pedro Ribeiro finished with two shots on target, his second - a low strike at the 56th minute was stopped by Reno's James Marcinkowski. Fresno had several chances to score in the second half, coming closest at the 75th minute when Christian Chaney, Kamdem Fewo and Matthew Baldisimo all had their shots blocked by defenders in a crowded Reno penalty area.
At the other end, Reynish continued his Man-of-the-Match performance, picking up four more saves in the second half, including a diving save of Lindo Mfeka's shot at the 67th minute.
The Foxes are now unbeaten in seven games when scoring the first goal, collecting three wins and four draws in those contests.
Fresno returns to Chukchansi Park on Wednesday, June 13th when they host Sacramento Republic FC in the first-ever in-league Highway 99 Derby. Tickets are on sale at tickets.fresnofc.com or at the Chukchansi Park box office.
