
Rewind: Taking a Look Back at Saturday's Action in the USHL

Des Moines 5, Sioux Falls 2
Ilya Protas scored the game-winning goal and had a three-point night in helping Des Moines pick up a 5-2 win over Sioux Falls Saturday.
The host Buccaneers jumped out to a 2-0 first-period on goals from Aiden VanRooyan and Liam Watkins. Tyler Borgula's 19th of the year cut into the deficit for the Stampede. Protas scored at 17:59 as Des Moines regained its two-goal cushion. Noah Eyre got one back for the Stampede with 23 seconds left in the period and at the end of the opening 20 minutes, it was Des Moines 3, Sioux Falls 2.
Watkins got his second of the game when he scored at 5:48 of the second and Andrew Clarke chipped in with a power play marker at 7:25 to make it a three-goal lead.
The two teams battled through a scoreless final 20 minutes as the Bucs held on the rest of the way for the win.
Des Moines, who owned a 28-23 advantage in shots on goal in the game, stands 18-24-4-0 with the win while Sioux Falls drops to 21-22-4-1.
Muskegon 7, Green Bay 4
A trio of goals and an assist from Sacha Boisvert powered Muskegon to a 7-4 road win at Green Bay.
Green Bay held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first on goals from Rasmus Larsson and Julian Lutz. Matvei Gridin scored for the Lumberjacks.
Xavier Veilleux brought Muskegon even when he scored at 12:58 of the second and Green Bay retook the lead on a Jayson Shaugabay goal a minute later. Cooper Pierson scored for the Lumberjacks at 14:18 and Libor Nemec tallied for the Gamblers at 15:34. Boisvert's first goal of the game came at 16:06 and after 40 minutes of action, the score stood 4-4.
Boisvert scored twice in the third to complete the hat trick (the second of his USHL career) and Justin Solovey also chipped in as Muskegon won for the seventh time in the last 10 games.
Julian Lutz had a goal and two assists for Green Bay in extending his point-scoring streak to a league-best 15 games (8-17- 25).
Cedar Rapids 4, Waterloo 2
Cedar Rapids got goals from four different players and solid goaltending from James Norton enroute to a 4-2 road win at Waterloo.
Loa Milfors started things for the RoughRiders with a first-period power play goal at 4:55 and at the end of the first, Cedar Rapids led 1-0.
Riley Bassen made it 2-0 at 13:26 of the second. Tyler Miller replied for the Black Hawks when he scored with the man advantage at 16:31.
Defenseman Will Felicio brought Waterloo even at 7:50 of the third, but Cedar Rapids pulled away with a power play goal from Ben Muthersbaugh at 10:29 and an even-strength marker from Armine Hajibi at 18:32 to close out the victory.
James Norton finished with 25 saves for the RoughRiders in picking up his fourth with of the season.
Lincoln 3, USA Hockey NTDP 1
Blake Montgomery had a goal and an assist and Lucas Massie stopped every shot but one as Lincoln skated to a 3-1 road win over the USA Hockey NTDP U17s Saturday.
Ryan Spinale's goal at 14:53 of the first was the only scoring in the opening period and when Jack Murtagh scored for the NTDP at 13:58 of the second, the score stood 1-1. Montgomery put the Stars up a second time when he tallied his 17th goal of the season at 16:52 and at the end of 40 minutes of play, Lincoln led by one.
Keaton Peters put the puck into an empty net at 19:49 of the third to close out the scoring in the game.
Massie turned aside 26 of the 27 shots he faced in the win.
Tri-City 9, Omaha 2
Tri-City scored first and never trailed in overpowering Omaha in a 9-2 road win.
Zach Bade and Artemi Nizameyev scored for Tri-City and Camron VanSickle for Omaha in the opening 20 minutes of play.
The Storm stretched their lead to 6-1 with second-period markers from Trevor Connelly, Carmelo Crandell, Brandt Harper and Ryan Smith.
Smith got his second of the game just after the start of the third period to make it 7-1. Will Elger scored an unassisted goal for Omaha at 4:51, but Tri-City closed out the win with Vladislav Lukashevich and AJ Lacroix scoring in the remaining 10 minutes of the contest,
Tri-City, which owned a 42-19 shots on goal advantage in the game, upped its record to 22-15-4-4 with the win.
Fargo 1, Sioux City 0
Anton Castro picked up his third shutout of the season and fifth of his USHL career as Fargo claimed a 1-0 road win at Sioux City.
The win, which gives the Force a league-best 38-5-2-0 record for the season, is the ninth in a row for Fargo.
Harper Bentz scored the only goal of the game when he scored at 1:57 of the second by tapping in a pass from Peter Cisar while standing at the top of the crease.
Castro, who now stands 18-4-2-0 on the season turned aside 20 shots in the contest. Samuel Urban had 26 saves for the Musketeers.
Youngstown 7, Chicago 1
Charlie Cerrato's hat trick helped lift Youngstown to a 7-1 win over Chicago.
The host Phantoms held a 3-0 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes of action on goals from Christian Chouha, Ryan Botterill and Mikey Burchill.
Cerrato's first goal of the game came at 16:54 of the second and after two periods of action, Youngstown led 4-0.
Jordan Brisson got the Steel on the board with a power play goal at 3:20 of the third, but the Phantoms closed out the victory with back-to-back goals from Cerrato and another from Luke Osburn.
Aiden Wright stopped 17 of 18 shots to get the win in net for the Phantoms.
Madison 3, Dubuque 2
A pair of third-period goals from Andrew Kuzma helped Madison gain a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Dubuque Saturday.
Dubuque led at the end of the first on a Charlie Arend power play goal, which he scored at 15:21.
The Fighting Saints took a 2-0 lead at 11:08 of the second when Noah Powell scored his 20th goal of the season. Austin Burnevik's 29th of the year, which came at 17:52, cut the lead to one.
Kuzma pulled the Caps even when he scored on the power play at 15:42 of the third and the Naperville, Ill., native scored the game-winner a minute and a half later with another power play goal coming at 17:20.
Carsen Musser had 22 saves for the Capitols and Dylan Johnson finished with 20 saves for the Fighting Saints.
