
Rewind: Recapping Saturday's Eight Games in the USHL

USA Hockey NTDP U17s 7, Chicago 5
A four-goal first period helped set the stage for the USA HockeyNTDP U17s in a 7-5 win at Chicago.
Conrad Fondrk, Cullen Potter, Lincoln Kuehne and Jacob Kvasnicka got the ball rolling in an opening period that saw the U17s outshoot the host Steel 15-9.
Ben Yurchuk and Charlie Major tallied a minute and a half apart in the second period to get the Steel back into the game, but Potter, with his second of the game coming at 12:37 and Drew Shock's goal 20 seconds later, made it 6-2. Donny Bracco tallied at 16:16 and after two periods of play it was 7-2.
Chicago rallied in the third with Major getting his second of the game at 7:10. Michael Emerson scored at 11:10 and Tobias Ohman found the back of the net at 18:20, but the U17s were able to hold the Steel off the rest of the way to claim the win.
Fargo 5, Lincoln 0
Rookie netminder Hampton Slukynsky's 31 save-shutout highlighted Fargo's 5-0 home win over Lincoln Saturday.
The Force, who upped their record to 42-7-2-0 with the win, owned a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals from Zam Plante, Jake Fisher and Leo Gruba.
Neither team was able to score in the second, but Fargo extended its lead in the third when Masun Fleece and Iiro Hakkarainen tallied at 10:16 and 15:24, respectively.
Slukynsky, who now has a league-high five shutouts on the season, now stands 23-2-0-0 for 2023-24.
Sioux City 3, Tri-City 2
Ethan Gardula's two goals helped boost Sioux City to a 3-2 road win over Tri-City.
Kaden Shahan's power play goal right at 19:20 gave the Musketeers a 1-0 lead at the end of the opening 20 minutes of action. The goal is the 35th of the year for Shahan, which ranks second in the league.
Cam Briere responded for the Storm at 8:53 of the second to tie it, but a Gardula goal, which came with 1:20 remaining in the period put Sioux City up by a goal after 40 minutes of play.
Gardula tallied at 18:04 of the third to make it 3-1. August Falloon's 14th of the year cut the deficit to one, but that was as close as the Storm could get.
Samuel Urban stopped a career-high 50 shots to get the win for the Musketeers, while Cam Korpi had 22 stops for the Storm.
Cedar Rapids 4, Waterloo 2
A 42-save effort from James Norton provided the impetus for a 4-2 Cedar Rapids road win at Waterloo.
The visiting RoughRiders owned a 2-0 lead at the end of the first on goals from Zack Sharp and Hans-Martin Ulvebne. And when Amine Hajibi tallied a power play marker at 11:51 of the second, it became a 3-0 lead at the end of two periods of play.
Waterloo made a game of it on a power play goal from Myles Hillman at 13:06 of the third and a shorthanded goal from Jakub Altricher at 14:34, but a Ben Muthersbaugh power play marker at 18:22 to seal the deal for Cedar Rapids.
Norton, who made 16 saves in the third period, has won three of his last four starts and stands 6-3-1-1 for the season.
Omaha 3, Green Bay 1
Omaha scored twice in the third period to break a 1-1 tie in coming away with a 3-1 home victory over Green Bay Saturday.
The Lancers, who picked up their second win in the last four games, struck first on a Will Elger goal at 17:10 of the opening period.
Green Bay responded on a goal from Josh Player at 16:56 of the second and after 40 minutes of action, the score stood 1-1.
Sam Scheetz tallied his first USHL goal at 14:09 to put the Lancers up by a goal and Nick Pierre's empty netter at 18:32 closed out the win.
Mikhail Yegorov turned aside 26 shots to get the win, while Adam Gajan had 20 saves on 22 shots for the Gamblers.
Muskegon 3, Youngstown 2
A third-period goal from Joe Connor broke a 2-2 deadlock as Muskegon skated away with a 3-2 road win at Youngstown.
Playing in his second game this season, Nathan Lewis tallied his third goal of the year midway through the first period to give the Phantoms a 1-0 lead.
Matvei Gridin extended his point-scoring streak to seven games when he scored for the 29th time this year in tying the game at 5:22 of the second. A Charlie Cerrato goal, which came on the power play at 12:17, put Youngstown up a second time, but Cody Croal's goal three minutes later sent the two teams in the locker room knotted at 2-2 after 40 minutes of action.
Connor's power play goal, which came at 2:42 of the third, ended up being the game winner as Muskegon win its third-straight game.
Shika Gadzhiev, who now stands 11-6-0-0 on the season, had 26 saves for the Lumberjacks. Colin Winn turned aside 13 of 16 shots for Youngstown.
Madison 3, Sioux Falls 2
James Hong tallied in overtime to lift Madison to a 3-2 home win over Sioux Falls Saturday.
Austin Burnevik, who scored twice in the game and now leads the USHL in goals with 36, opened the scoring in the contest with his first-period tally giving the Capitols a 1-0 advantage after the opening 20 minutes.
Burnevik scored again when he lit the lamp at 5:29 of the second, but a John McNelis tally with just over a minute left in the period cut the Sioux Falls deficit to one.
Chase Lapinta continued to stay hot for the Stampede when he scored for the sixth time in four games since coming over in a trade, and after regulation, the score stood 2-2.
Hong scored the game-winning goal in overtime when he worded the puck out of the corner before sliding the puck past Michael Chambre at 2:13 of the extra session. Hong, who now has three overtime game-winning goals on the season, had a hand on all three Madison goals with a goal and two assists.
Carsen Musser had a career-high 46 saves for the Capitols in getting the decision.
Des Moines 2, Dubuque 1
Eric Dahlmeir turned aside 34 shots in backstopping Des Moines to 2-1 win at Dubuque.
First-period goals from Ashton Dahms and Liam Watkins gave Des Moines an early lead.
Erik Pahlsson's 21st goal of the season brought the Fighting Saints within one when he scored on a power play chance at 12:13 of the third, but Dahlmeir shut the door the rest of the way as Des Moines won for the sixth time in its last eight outings.
