Fargo Signs Cole Bumgarner to USHL Tender Agreement

March 10, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

The Fargo Force announced today that they have signed lefthand-shooting forward Cole Bumgarner to a USHL tender agreement for the 2024-25 season.

Bumgarner, a Rogers, Minn., native, is 6'1 and 185 lbs. and recently took part in the World Youth Olympic Games that were held in Gangwon, South Korea, where he helped the United States to a Gold Medal.

Bumgarner racked up 34 points on 15 goals and 19 assists in 23 games as a sophomore for Rogers High School this winter.

"We are thrilled to have Cole sign with us," said Fargo General Manager, Cary Eades. "We have monitored his development very closely over an extended period of time, as he already has three years of high school playing experience despite not turning 16 until next month. He has proven to be very effective versus older and stronger players, which leads us to believe he can do the same for us next year. He's got a rocket of a shot, skates well and has very good vision. We feel he's one of the top players in the country for the 2008 birth year."

"Our organization has done an outstanding job of developing and mentoring young players over our history, especially in the past two seasons. Our top rookie last year, Mac Swanson, was in the top 20 in league scoring all season and was on the All-USHL Rookie first all-star team as a 16 year old! This year, our two 16 year olds - Masun Fleece and Gavin Kor - have both made big improvements and have contributed to a great regular season by the Force thus far."

"We have everything in place in Fargo for young players to develop," continued Eades. "Unlimited ice time to develop individual skills, our own strength coach - Stephanie Oliver - to increase player's strength, speed and agility, as well as a coaching staff led by Head Coach Brett Skinner and Skills Development Coach Matt Cullen, that understands the needs of a younger player adjusting to the rigors of the long USHL season. We are excited to welcome Cole and the Bumgarner family to the Force hockey family."

The USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2008 birth year players in exchange for their first and second-round picks in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft. As a result of signing Bumgarner the Force surrender their first-round pick in Phase I of the USHL Draft this upcoming spring. Each tendered player will be on their respective team's roster the next season and play at least 55% of the team's regular season games.
