June 4, 2016 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Texas Revolution News Release
This Saturday, your Revolution will battle the Mesquite Marshals in their final regular season game. On May 20 th the Revolution offense bombarded the Marshals defense with touchdowns on ground and through the air. Revolution Quarterback Robert Kent Jr connected with Wide Receivers Clinton Solomon, LaDon Hudson, and Brett Reece for six first half scores. As a team the Revolution had 79 yards rushing. Revolution Safety Jerico set the tone for the defense that night with 10 tackles, in a game that ended in a 92 to 43 victory.
Since then the Marshals lost in the final seconds to the Dodge City Law, a team that has always competed well against the Revolution. They are 1 and 11 and their season has been a struggle. As the Revolution head into the playoffs, it will be a great opportunity for them prepare for similar playing styles to the ones they will see in the playoffs. For example, both the Quarterbacks the Revolution could see in the June 18 th playoff game, Derrick Bernard and Nate Davis of Dodge City and Amarillo respectively have similar skill sets to Marshals Quarterback Kollton Browning. Also the Marshals have a number bigger Wide Receivers such as the 6'4" 210 pound Cordell Robinson and 6'4" 215 pound Jesse Shields. This will give the Revolution Defensive Backs a final opportunity to prepare for the likes of Amarillo's 6'5" 215 pound Kent McDonald or Dodge City's 6'0" 210 pound Daniel McKinney.
The most intriguing matchup of Saturday's game will be on special teams when the Revolution's Joe Adams and the Marshal's Larry Miller Jr. hit the field. As a college player, Adam's was one of college football's elite Kick Returners. Since joining the Revolution in May, Adams has gained of 300 return yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Larry Miller Jr of the Marshals is the CIF's Kick Return leader with over 900 yards and 2 touchdowns.
