Returning Vets & Rookies Added to the 2017 Roster!
ALLEN, TX - It's been a big week for the Texas Revolution as they have resigned three of their key players back to the roster as well as eagerly welcomed three new additions to the lineup.
The first of the returning vets finding his way back onto the roster was Quarterback, Robert Kent Jr. With a successful past season of 3,072 yards and 85 touchdowns under his belt, Kent hopes to beat those numbers and top the upcoming season off with a ring. "The fans, coaches, and front office staff with the Revolution deserve nothing less than the best. I am very proud of the accomplishments we've had as a team, but we still haven't finished the final job. I look forward to going to battle with my brothers again, and to bring that championship trophy home" said Kent.
"Franchise Frankie" Solomon II also finds himself among the select vets excited to return to play at the Allen Event Center! The indispensable Defensive Back is considered one of the Revs' best weapons on the defense because of his skill and knowledge of the game, according to Head Coach Victor Mann. "I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes this year, and where he takes the defense as a leader on the field" said Mann. Frankie accounted for 31 tackles, two interceptions, six pass break ups, and a single forced fumble in the past two seasons playing in the CIF.
Finally, Darius Fudge is stoked to be returning for his third season in the CIF league. The Atlanta born-and-raised Running Back says, "My experience with the Revs has been wonderful. It's an absolutely upstanding organization that puts out a good product on and off the field because of the foundation that Tommy Benizio has built for the team." While his passion for the game is evident, he deeply appreciates the Revs fans, whose support he attributes his perseverance and success to. During the 2015-2016 season, Fudge scored 39 touchdowns, rushed 1027 yards, and caught 69 passes totaling 708 yards.
Another addition to the lineup is a familiar face as DB, Henry "Scooter" Rogers, from the Revs' 2013 season has resigned for the 2017 season. Rogers played corner back in all 12 games of the University of Louisiana 2007 season, posting a season-high four tackles at SC and vs. McNeese and recording 13 tackles in five non-conference games. After starting 24 games for the Ragin' Cajuns, "Scooter" played all 14 games for the Revs' in 2013, accumulating 50 tackles, three interceptions, and forcing one fumble.
The Revs are eager to attribute their first rookie signing of the 2017 season to Defensive End, Eric Harper! Before spending time on the Oakland Raiders' practice squad, Harper played his final year of college at Grambling State University as a LB after spending three years at Louisiana Tech University as a TE. Over the course of his senior season, Eric recorded 51 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
One of the final rookie additions to the roster for the week is local Defensive Back, Jared Brackens, from Mesquite, Texas! Playing all four years while attending Iowa State University, Brackens ended his career with the Cyclones with 132 tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss.
Both players and fans can hardly wait for the first home opener in February 2017 and have high hopes for new additions to the roster as open try-outs will be held in October and January before the finalized roster is released.
