Revolution Stars Will Take over Ben & Jerry's for Celebrity Scoop for Charity
August 1, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - As the summer heat takes its toll on New England, two of the New England Revolution's stars - Kelyn Rowe and Teal Bunbury - will take a few hours to help fans cool off by scooping ice cream for charity on Wednesday, August 13.
The Revs players will step behind the counter at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Shop (174 Newbury St., Boston, Mass.) from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., to scoop customers' orders.
Fifty (50) percent of all sales during the Revs' visit will be donated to Cradles to Crayons, which provides children up to the age of 12 living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive.
Fans who stop by the Ben & Jerry's location can also donate notebooks, pencils, pens, binders and other school supplies, which will be collected as part of the Revolution's Charity Drive Series. Those items - along with those donated on Aug. 23 at Gillette Stadium during the team's game day drive - will be collected and donated to Cradles to Crayons.
The Rev Girls and team mascot, Slyde, will also be on site for the charity scoop, handing out Revolution gear and giving fans a sneak peek at Kelyn Rowe's limited-edition bobblehead, which the Revs will be giving away at its Aug. 16 match against the Portland Timbers at Gillette Stadium.
