
Revolution Introduce Head Coach Tony Hawkins

RICHMOND, VA: SportsQuest and the Richmond Revolution announced today, at a press conference held at the new Wings, Pizza N Things at the Regency Square Mall, that they have hired their new Head Coach, Tony Hawkins.
Tony joins the Revolution after an illustrious Richmond-area football career. Tony prepped at Thomas Jefferson High School where he lettered in both football and track. After starring at Thomas Jefferson, Tony attended Virginia State University where he became the school's all-time leading passer, throwing for over 9,000 yards and 70 touchdowns and where he earned all-conference honors all four years. As a junior at VSU Tony was named second team All-American, and as a senior was an honorable mention All-American. After collegiate ball Tony began his professional career with the af2 Richmond Speed where he spent three seasons before moving on to the af2 Columbus Wardogs in 2004. In 2005, Tony spent time with the AIFL Richmond Bandits before retiring as a player to begin focusing on coaching. He began his coaching career by spending three years as the QB Coach for Virginia Union University (2003-2006) and spent the next three seasons as the TE/Tackles Coach at Virginia State University (2007-2009). Currently, Tony serves as the Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach for Benedictine High School.
Tony has one child, Antonio II, and is also the Managing Partner of The Republic Restaurant and Bar in Richmond.
The Revolution have also announced that Kevin Coles will be re-joining the Revolution. Kevin was a member of the Revolution during training camp last year, but will be joining the team this year as its Defensive Coordinator.
Revolution tryouts announced
The Revolution further announced that they will be hosting their first open player tryout on Sunday October 24th at the SportsQuest Indoor Sports Complex, formerly known as RISE. The tryout will consist of a combine style workout and will run from 2:00 PM until 4:30, with day of registration starting at 1:00 PM. The cost of the tryout is $40 if you pre-register, and $50 the day of the event. Players can register by going to the Revolution's website at richmondrevolution.com and signing up. Only cash will be accepted the day of the tryout.
The Richmond Revolution are members of the Indoor Football League, and the 2010 IFL Franchise of the Year. SportsQuest has opened the East portion of their 250 acre campus, and is currently running programming for football, soccer, lacrosse and more. The campus is designed to host athletes of all skill levels, from recreational to Olympic training. Among SportsQuest's plans is the building of multiple facilities to house indoor football, indoor lacrosse, indoor soccer and other sports.
