Revolution Ice Crunch
March 3, 2015 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Texas Revolution News Release
With ice, snow and closed roads the Texas Revolution defense sure did heat things up. Allowing only 19 total points to the Crunch in Friday's Season Premiere 61-19 win; 7 of those came on a long 4th and 23 Fourth Quarter completion that Corner Back Thailand Pierce let get behind him. Seemingly, that was the only real hiccup Texas had all night. Stacked in the secondary along with the Linebacker position the Revs punished the Crunch, flying around and creating turnovers that allowed the offense to get much needed work.
Struggling in the Quarterback position to begin the contest, veteran Robert Kent started to find his touch and begin to roll while Luke Halpin got comfortable on the move to generate yards and make plays happen. Staying on the offensive side of the ball, Darius Fudge has returned to form, dropping a bit of weight from last year he proved that his lingering knee injury is no longer a factor scoring both by running the ball and catching a pass our of the backfield.
Getting the win provided Wendell Davis his first career "W" at the helm and was the debut of Jen Welter as the first female coach on the men's professional level of football.
Due to the weather, internet access was limited in the box during the contest. Stats had been kept, but are unofficial. The Revolution travel to Salina, Kansas this week to open the regular season against the (1-0) Bombers in the Bicentennial Center. With kickoff slated for 7:05 you can view the game on America One Cable network or listen to the call from Sonny Clark on BlogTalk radio.
Salina On Deck
The Revs are hitting the road this weekend for the first away game of the season, heading up into Kansas to take on the Salina Bombers. The Bombers were also victorious last week in their season opener as they took down conference foe, Wichita Force, 64-61 on the road in Wichita. The Bombers will be the first conference test for the Revolution squad that handled the North Texas Crunch 61-19 on Friday night at the Allen Event Center.
2015 Revolution Roster Finalized
The Revolution caching staff, after weeks of training camp and our annual preseason game, have cut down the roster to the final 24 men to be carried on the team for the remainder of the season. Of the 24 players to make the final roster, 21 will suit up for each game leaving three players eligible for practice squad designation each week.
