Residency To Play In Inaugural Coast Capital Cup

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency, in conjunction with Victoria Highlanders FC, and Abbotsford Mariners, will take part in the inaugural Coast Capital Cup. The three British Columbia-based United Soccer Leagues (USL) Premier Development League (PDL) clubs will play in the three-match pre-season tournament from Friday, April 30, to Sunday, May 2.
Whitecaps FC kick off the tournament when they face the Mariners at Mouat Turf Field in Abbotsford, BC, on Friday, April 30, at 8:15 p.m. PT. The second match sees the Highlanders host the Mariners at Bear Mountain Stadium in Victoria, BC, on Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. PT. Finally, the Residency team will host the Highlanders at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, BC, on Sunday, May 2, at 4 p.m. PT. There will be three points awarded for a win and one point awarded for a draw. In the event that two teams are tied on points after all matches, the winner will be decided first by aggregate goals (away goals count for two), then if necessary goal difference, then if necessary away goals, then if necessary total corner kicks, then if necessary fewest fouls.
The Coast Capital Cup tournament takes place one week before the start of the 2010 PDL Western Conference, Northwest Division regular season, with the Residency team set to kick off the 2010 campaign against the Highlanders in Victoria, on Saturday, May 8, at 7 p.m. PT. The Whitecaps first PDL regular season home match is on Friday, May 14, at 7 p.m. PT versus the Mariners at SFU.
