Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced that physiotherapist Bruno Mazziotti is joining the North American Soccer League (NASL) club in an advisory role.

Mazziotti comes to Fort Lauderdale after six years with Brazilian soccer powerhouse Corinthians, where he managed a state-of-the-art biomechanics lab. Regarded as one of the top human-performance labs in professional soccer, the in-house facility in São Paulo focuses on injury prevention. It utilizes a variety of machines and physical tests to evaluate and improve athletes' fitness.

Last month, Managing Director Luis Cuccatti and CEO Sean Guerin visited the Corinthians lab. Under the direction of Mazziotti, the Strikers have made plans to create a similar lab in Fort Lauderdale. The club has entered into a partnership with Corpore Sano LLC of Miami to provide staff and equipment for the lab.

"Not only am I excited to bring this cutting-edge technology to our team, I am excited to bring this innovation to our community," said Guerin. "Beyond the various youth programs that will be able to utilize and benefit from the lab, it will not be limited to soccer athletes. We will invite amateur and professional sports teams to take advantage of this unique offering."

Mazziotti oversaw the physiotherapy program for Corinthians, who claimed their sixth championship in Brazil's top league (Campeonato Brasileiro Série A) in 2015. Mazziotti is credited with keeping players healthy and in top shape during the title-winning season.

"We welcome Bruno and Corpore Sano to Fort Lauderdale," said Cuccatti. "This partnership is another step forward in the prioritization of our soccer department. Bruno has a proven record of utilizing cutting-edge methods to keep players healthy and on the pitch. We're lucky to have this partnership."

During his tenure at Corinthians, the team won two titles in Brazil's top league (2015 and 2011) in addition to taking home the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup.

His team will be with the Strikers as they compete in the Florida Cup, which begins Sunday (January 10) when Fort Lauderdale takes on FC Schalke 04 in Orlando. The Red & Gold will then face Santa Fe one week later (January 17) in Boca Raton, Fla.

Lockhart Stadium will serve as the host of two Florida Cup games. The first is January 13 when Schalke squares off against Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro. One week later, January 20, Brazilian squads Fluminense and Internacional meet. Tickets are on sale now at Strikers.com/FloridaCup.
