December 15, 2008 Reno- The Reno Bighorns today announced the acquisition of Patrick Ewing Jr., who will make his debut tonight against the Utah Flash at 7:00 pm MST. Ewing, Jr. fills a roster spot vacated by Kyle Shiloh, who was waive today.
The 43rd overall selection by the Sacramento Kings in the 2008 NBA Draft, Ewing Jr. was traded to the Houston Rockets before playing with the New York Knicks during the 2008 preseason.
On October 24, 2008 Ewing played in the final Knicks pre-season game heading into the 2008-09 season, tallying two dunks, a three-pointer, a steal and a blocked a shot. He had seven fourth-quarter points, in what many believed was the turning point in his bid to make the Knicks final roster cut. On October 27, 2008 the Knicks released Ewing to get down to the maximum 15 players for the start of the 2008-2009 NBA season.
The son of NBA Hall-of-Famer Patrick Ewing, Ewing, Jr. averaged a career-high 6.1 points to go with 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists during his senior season at Georgetown before entering in the 2008 NBA Draft.
