Reno Aces News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Daniel Cabrera and Seth Etherton combined to hold the high-powered Sky Sox offense to just three runs on Sunday afternoon, as the Reno Aces topped Colorado Springs 6-3 at Security Service Field.
Cabrera scattered two runs on five hits over the game's first four innings, before Etherton (10-7) came on to hold the Sky Sox to just a run over the final five frames.
The Aces jumped out to an early lead and would never trail. Eric Byrnes, playing with Reno on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, led-off Sunday's game with a home run to put the Aces ahead quickly, 1-0. Reno added one more in the first, then a three-run third inning gave the Aces plenty of cushion.
Luke Carlin finished with three hits, extending his hitting streak to a career-best 11 games. Agustin Murillo kicked-in a hit and two RBIs, while Ed Rogers recorded two hits on the day.
The loss fell to Sky Sox starter Jhoulys Chacin (1-1), who surrendered five runs on three hits and five walks over 2.0 innings of work.
The series continues on Monday night from Security Service Field. RHP Hector Ambriz (6-9, 6.01 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Sky Sox counter with RHP Brandon Hynick (10-7, 3.59 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.
The Aces' final homestand begins August 31 at Aces Ballpark. For tickets, stop by the Aces Ballpark Box Office, call (775) 334-7000 or visit www.RenoAces.com.
