September 6, 2003 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades achieved several franchise milestones during the team's 45-28 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on September 6 at Frank Clair Stadium.
· The Renegades won for the third consecutive time at home. This is a new franchise record. Ottawa won two straight home games at Frank Clair Stadium during the inaugural 2002 campaign. The Renegades also added to a franchise-record for home victories in one season (four).
· For the first time in franchise history, the Renegades have won back-to-back games within one season (August 29 against Montreal and September 6 against Hamilton).
· The victory gives Ottawa a record of 5-7-0. The five wins breaks last year's team mark of four.
· The 45 points scored against the Tiger-Cats is a club record for most points scored in one game. The Renegades have established new club records for points scored in one game during three consecutive weeks (41 points against Saskatchewan in Regina on August 17, 43 points against Montreal at home on August 29, 45 points against Hamilton on September 6).
· Ottawa remains undefeated in four regular-season games against opponents from the CFL East Division in 2003. Counting a win during the final game of the 2002 regular season against Montreal, the Renegades have won five consecutive games against opponents from the East.
· Renegades running back Josh Ranek rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries during Saturday's win against Hamilton. Ranek has rushed for at least 100 yards in three consecutive games. His latest performance leaves Ranek 357 yards shy of a 1,000-yard rushing season. Ranek also scored two touchdowns against Hamilton. He has at least one rushing touchdown in five consecutive games and at least one touchdown in six straight games.
· At the gate, the Renegades had a season-high attendance of 26,588, the second largest crowd in franchise history, second only to the first game played by the Renegades on June 28, 2002 (against Saskatchewan, attendance 26,898).
The Renegades return to action on Sunday, September 14 in Montreal against the Alouettes (1 p.m. kickoff). Ottawa is back at Frank Clair Stadium on Friday, September 26 against the Calgary Stampeders (7 p.m. kickoff).
